Our Charter
Overview
Ctrl Alt Trek is a casual Federation fleet that was started by the creators/fans/friends of the Ctrl Alt Trek Podcast.
Ctrl Alt Trek is a very casual fleet. We are not a strict raiding fleet nor a strict PvP fleet nor a strict role-playing fleet (although we may have groups of people in the fleet who pursue such interests). We are a fleet that believes that players of Star Trek online should be given the opportunity to experience multiple aspects of game play and that a lack of experience does not imply a lack of aptitude.
Every voice in Ctrl Alt Trek is equal, and we enjoy open conversation as long as you do not belittle your fellow members. If you have any ideas/suggestions/comments/etc, please submit them to the officers at any time.
As a member of Ctrl Alt Trek you represent Ctrl Alt Trek as a whole and are expected to act accordingly. You may not get along with everybody in the fleet, but you are expected to be polite and civil to your fellow fleeters.
The fleet policy will be published on the Policies and Responsibilities page. Ignorance of the law excuses no one. Every member is expected to be familiar with the fleet policies and abide by them.
Applying For Admission
Membership is available to all listeners of Ctrl Alt Trek and to the population of Star Trek Online. All prospective players MUST be a Lieutenant rank and file an application at http://www.ctrlalttrek.com/register/add.php.
General Membership
Recruit
After having a membership application approved and meeting class level requirements for the character, a member is invited and joins as a Recruit. This is a probationary rank with limited privileges. During this time, the Recruit is expected to become familiar with the fleet polices and to register in the official fleet forums. Within two (2) to twelve (12) weeks of joining, the Recruit’s membership status will be reviewed and the member will be either promoted to Member or removed from the fleet.
Member
Member is the highest non-officer rank in Ctrl Alt Trek. A Member is considered a member in good standing and carries with it the full privilege and responsibility of Ctrl Alt Trek membership.
Silenced Recruit / Silenced Member
Silenced Recruit and Silenced Member are ranks that have no ability to speak in fleet chat. This rank is used when a member is causing a problem that requires restriction but does not warrant an immediate removal from the fleet. Recruits are “promoted” to Silenced Recruit, and Members are “demoted” to Silenced Member. An officer will generally contact a member so restricted via whisper to sort out the issue.
Officer Corps
Officer
Officers assist with bringing in new members and resolving conflicts.
Officers are only selected through nomination by current Jr. Officers or other officers. The Officer rank is not the result of general member progression or solicitation by members.
To promote a fleet member to the rank of Officer, the existing Officers follow this process.
1. One Officer nominates the candidate.
2. Another Officer seconds the nomination.
3. Voting commences and lasts for a 14 day period. All Officers and other fleet officers in good standing may vote. Quorum is 50% of the Officer population (rounding down if the population is an odd number). Once quorum is met, a candidate must get a two thirds (2/3) majority of “yea” votes. An abstention counts towards quorum but is not counted as a vote.
4. If the candidate is accepted by vote, a recommendation is sent to the Leaders, and Sr. Officers recommending the candidate for promotion.
The vote is only a means to achieve consensus among the Officers. The upper-tier officers make the final decision about all promotions, and may promote a member at any time.
Sr. Officer
Sr. Officers have the same responsibilities as Jr. Officers, but are also responsible for executing Jr. Officer promotions, handling escalations of fleet policy issues, and managing fleet resources.
Leaders
This is the rank of the founders of Ctrl Alt Trek
Role Playing
Roleplaying is appreciated and encouraged, but not a requirement. fleet policies apply to both in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) activities.
In fleet chat, it is recommended that you make it clear whether your comments are IC or OOC. This can be done with quotes, parenthesis, or leading slashes to indicate IC comments. Unless it is clear that a comment is IC, it is assumed to be OOC.
